Don't look down, it only makes the fall seem farther, just keep your focus upward and you'll find yourself there soon. The fog rolls out, the fog rolls in its no surprise but the time between grows shorter with every passing moon. Breathe in, breathe out, living is like a glass of the finest wine, it takes some getting used to. Live with or without, the fear will grip you when you want it least. I've been told the worst thing you can do is nothing, the days go by so quickly that its hard to use them well. The hand you hold will take you to the old folk's home and the cards may be against you but don't you let them know. Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down. Breathe in, breathe out, living is like a glass of the finest wine, it takes some getting used to. Live with or without, the fear will grip you when you want it least.

Gone 03:54
It pulled me up from the deep at two in the morning but I wasn't sleeping anyway, I was thinking about the fight we had last night. And all I could was run gasping for the wind that you knocked out of me when you walked out on me. Gone, all my memories are gone. They blew away with the smoke filled wind in the night, out of mind and out of sight. Gone, all my memories are gone. Everything that we worked so hard to improve, it doesn't mean a thing without you. I'd heard it all before, how I never take you seriously. But I guess you were serious this time. Now I'm here alone wondering where did I go wrong? Did I go wrong at all? Gone, all my memories are gone. They blew away with the smoke filled wind in the night, out of mind and out of sight. Gone, all my memories are gone. Everything that we worked so hard to improve, it doesn't mean a thing without you. I think you're really gone, so now there's nothing left for me to do but to burn this whole place to the ground. Gone, all my memories are gone. They blew away with the smoke filled wind in the night, out of mind and out of sight. Gone, all my memories are gone. Everything that we worked so hard to improve, it doesn't mean a thing without you.

Here we are sitting at opposite ends of a big big table in our favorite coffee shop, God forbid we even try to talk. Me on my laptop buried in the internet and you on your cellphone texting your bff, "omg is that what she said?" Let's be electronic friends forever until the end. You are just a stranger until we become electronic friends. We've known each other most of our lives, we pass on the street and we look the other way. When we were kids we used to play. Now I know what you're up to without even having to talk to you. I check your status on your wall, your tweets, your blog, I read it all. So much easier than face to face. Let's be electronic friends forever until the end. You are just a stranger until we become electronic friends. Hey baby, what's your URL? Sorry if I'm loud, I'm working on my cell yell. Let's make this facebook official. Let's be electronic friends forever until the end. You are just a stranger until we become electronic friends.

Slow Down 03:29
I'm on a one lane road behind an eighty year old going 15 miles per hour. Talking on the phone, left late from home, supposed to be there on the hour. I never put myself in eighty year old shoes, that's why I'm singing these "I'm in a hurry" blues. Maybe I've got it all wrong. I need to slow down, slow down. I'm not in a rush to be an eighty year old, why should I hurry for anything else? I'm in a traffic jam, a big coffee in my hand, I've got no time for cream and sugar. And maybe I'm dreaming, maybe this is all in my head but this traffic line only has two colors, yellow and red. And every crosswalk sign is blinking in my face, and this city's got speed bumps all over the place. Maybe I've got it all wrong. I need to slow down, slow down. I'm not in a rush to be an eighty year old, why should I hurry for anything else?

Faded blue tarp in my neighbor's front yard covers a car long forgotten, a sad, beautiful car. The upholsterys all torn, and theres rust through the floor, the windows are broken in that dented driver's door. Throw it away, throw it away. oh so easily forgotten. Throw it away. When he was sixteen and new, oh that car got him to his first date with her. Now they're married with two. And those kids they would play in the backseat everyday as she drove them to school and vacations far away. Throw it away, throw it away. Oh the sentiment is lost. Throw it away. If this car could talk, what would you hear from a voice so weathered with time. Early this morn' I stood at the door watching them pull back that tarp as the truck bed lowered.

about

The Brothers Jim Olympia, Washington

Brothers Chuck and Jeff have delivered a promising EP, showing early signs of the talent they possess. They are perfect storytellers, engaging with tales of old cars and internet friendship. Reminiscent of old-style Americana with a cheeky jab at American culture. This EP is something any listener, whether they be an Americana fan or have purely stumbled upon it, can enjoy. -Kait Shirley Vents Mag ... more
